2017 USDGC Qualifying

With eighteen different qualifying events this year, the most in recent history, the 2017 United States Disc Golf Championship (Oct. 4-7th) promises to have one of the most talented fields to date.

Road to Winthrop Begins 11,436 Miles Away

The USDGC teams up once again with the Disc Golf World Tour, and will cap off the DGWT similar to 2016. Prior to that, each DGWT event will serve as USDGC qualifying events including the year’s first major, the Aussie Open (DGWT #1) in Perth, Australia. The remaining DGWT events include the Konopiště Open (DGWT #2), and the European Open (DGWT #3).

Stateside Qualification

Las Vegas kicks off qualification in the U.S. (Feb. 23-26th) at the PDGA NT Gentlemen's Club Challenge. Players unable to make Vegas still have plenty of other chances in practically every other part of the country, plus two events in Canada. For a complete list of qualifying sites, event regulations, and player exemptions, visit the Official Qualifying Procedure.

“It has always been important to spread qualifying events out geographically as best we can, and I believe we have accomplished that this year,” said USDGC Event Director Jonathan Poole, “We want as many PDGA members as possible to have an opportunity to compete for a spot in the Championship field.”

Two Titles on the Line Once More

Like 2016, the USDGC will be the site for not only the USDGC crown, but the DGWT Points title as well. Players earn points at all DGWT events including the USDGC, where they will be tallied up afterwards to determine the title. Last year, Jeremy Koling won his first US title, while Ricky Wysocki took home the DGWT Points title.

USDGC Doubles Returns

USDGC Doubles (Sept. 29 - Oct.1st) will be back this year as the kickoff event for Championship week. The event will again be qualifying based. Stay tuned to usdgc.com for qualifying event details.

Weathering the Storm

Last year, heavy wind and rain from Hurricane Matthew cut the Championship one round short for the first time in the tournament’s 18 years. However, even an abbreviated USDGC proved to be one of disc golf’s most captivating spectacles of the season. Expect disc golf’s grandest show to be back in full force in 2017, and hopefully with more cooperative weather.
