Sole leaders from both divisions emerged after the USDGC Doubles’ second round at the heavily wooded and challenging 20-hole Canaan Riverbend Gold Course on Saturday.
Tied after the first round, Jeremy Koling and Paul Ulibarri now have a five stroke lead over Schusterick/Long in the pro division. Koling/Ulibarri shot a 59 (-10) during the best score format while Schusterick/Long shot a 64 (-5).
The day’s hot round belonged to Travis Chumley and Tyler Cerrito whose 58 (-11) catapulted them from back in the pack to tied for third. Chumley was part of the team that won the US Amateur Doubles Championship last year.
After an impressive 60 (-9) Ward/McCue now sit at (-15) and lead the amateur division by two strokes. At second are Zesch/Ranking, who shot 63 (-6) on Saturday. Two strokes behind them in third place are team West/Camp.
One more round at Canaan awaits both divisions. This time it will be in best shot format, so expect lower scores. Stay tuned to usdgc.com for more.
