White and Handley Lead at Winthrop

Casey White and Holyn Handley each opened with an 11-under round Thursday at Winthrop. White leads the United States Disc Golf Championship by one stroke. Handley has the same advantage at the Throw Pink Women’s Disc Golf Championship.

WHITE FINISHES WITH THREE STRAIGHT BIRDIES

White made 11 birdies without a bogey on his way to a 53. Three of those birdies came on the final three holes. Daniel Davidsson is alone in second after a 10-under 54.

Anthony Barela, Calvin Heimburg, Isaac Robinson, Sullivan Tipton, and Silas Schultz are tied for third at 9 under. That leaves seven players within two strokes of the lead with three rounds to play.

Ricky Wysocki, Gannon Buhr, and Jake Monn are tied for eighth at 7 under. See the full USDGC opening-round scores.

HANDLEY LEADS THROW PINK

Holyn Handley shot 58 to take the Throw Pink lead. Ohn Scoggins is right behind her with a 10-under 59, three strokes clear of the next group.

Kona Star Montgomery, Jessica Gurthie, and Anniken Kristiansen Steen share third at 7 under. Catrina Allen and Julia Fors are tied for sixth at 6 under.

FRIDAY AT WINTHROP

Round two begins Friday, October 9. Throw Pink’s first tee is scheduled for 7:50 a.m., followed by USDGC at 10:15 a.m. Fans can also take part in Putting Championship qualifying in Championship Village from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Plan to stay for the evening. The Fan Hospitality Pavilion hosts Abby Bryant with Rebecca Harrison and Friends at 6 p.m., the World Disc Golf Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at 7 p.m., and Dangermuffin at 8 p.m. Check the full event schedule.

Thursday’s official weather update confirmed that both championships are proceeding as scheduled, with no changes announced. Please keep an eye on official USDGC channels for further updates.
