Making History: Gannon Buhr Wins 2022 USDGC

The youngest competitor to ever win the United States Disc Golf Championship, Gannon Buhr is the 24th US Champion. The 17-yr-old competitor, who is a senior in high school, qualified for the championship at the PDGA Champions Cup presented by Bushnell.
“I can’t believe it. This is the tournament I wanted to win the most. I mean, even over the
world championships. I birdied the last 5 holes just to barely defend Niklas. He’s insanely good.
I can’t believe it.” said Gannon Buhr to a DGN reporter.
Now ranked 4th in the world, the competitor beat the top disc golfer Ricky Wysocki and
the 3rd best disc golfer Paul McBeth. A surprising feat for someone who has been competing since 2015. Buhr, after being asked what he wants to do now that he’s US Champion, said “I want to go to McDonald’s,” and “I’m very behind on school right now. I need to just focus on passing because I've been gone so much.”
The USDGC was held in Rock Hill, SC, Oct. 6-9. After a year of competing in qualifiers,
the top, qualified disc golfers travel from around the world to attempt to earn the title of US Disc Golf Champion. The 25th anniversary will be next year, so mark your calendars and come out to experience the most prestigious major in disc golf.
