Locastro is US Distance Champ

Nikko Locastro became the US Distance Champ for the first time with a throw of 621 feet during the distance competition on Tuesday, edging out second place Juho Parviainen by three feet, and 2015 distance champ Alex Geisinger by 12 feet.

Throughout the day, strong headwinds made maximum distance throws challenging for the game’s heavy hitters, but Locastro was able to let one fly. Though Locastro is of modest size compared to some of the game’s longest throwers, he can still pack a punch.

The top five throwers from Tuesday’s competition will be featured in the Big Arm Big Heart distance showcase after Wednesday’s Round 1 where they will have a chance at heaving drives over the Winthrop Lake. If one of those drives land inside the special DISCatcher basket, then $5,000 will be donated to charity.
